Six Things Fans Like to See in Pokemon Sun and Moon

As we wait for the release of the recently announced Pokemon Sun and Moon,we have collected the most wanted features by the fans.

Despite the excitement of Pokemon Sun and Moon‘s announcement during Nintendo’s Pokemon-themed direct, very little has been revealed about the upcoming game besides the fact that it will be a new main series title.
Due to the lack of information in the company’s brief presentation, all we can do is speculate about the upcoming games, though some eagle-eyed fans have noticed that the presented concept art hints at the next adventure possibly having a tropical setting. While we don’t know much about what the new titles are going to be like, here are just some of the things we hope will be in Pokemon Sun and Moon.

A Better Rival

The original Pokemon games had great rivals that would occasionally pop up to test the player’s skills in battle. The Kanto region had Blue, Johto had Silver, and Hoenn had May/Brendan – as well as Wally. The thing is, as the games go on, The Pokemon Company seem to be diluting down the rival experience in place of allowing more characters to join the player’s journey. In the latest region, Kalos, the player has 4 friends that will turn up from time to time.
The thing is, while Blue and Silver’s teams would fill up and develop alongside the player’s, even the last time you encounter your friends in Pokemon X and Y, they still haven’t caught 6 Pokemon. Not only does this make them easier to beat but it actually serves to remove almost all of the threat in them challenging you to a battle. Here’s hoping that Sun and Moon brings back that same intensity that we saw when facing Blue in the Pokemon league for the first time.

Finally, The First POKÉMON GO Footage Appears!

Don’t freak out, but it looks like Niantic CEO John Hanke might have revealed the first gameplay footage of the company’s highly-anticipated mobile game, Pokémon Go, at SXSW. The footage has unsurprisingly made its way to the web and you can peep the clip (via YouTuber Eric F) for yourself above.

While many believe that the voice in the video sounds a lot like Hanke, we can’t 100% confirm this is authentic since he doesn’t appear in the clip. That being said, however, this does look like it’s legit, especially when you consider the fact that Pokémon Go will be field tested relatively soon in Japan.
In the short clip, Hanke talks about how monsters will be distributed all over the world, and how each one lives in the habitat that makes the most sense for its type. That means you won’t be finding a Squirtle out in the middle of the desert or Charmander in the sea. The encounter shown in the video features everyone’s favorite grass-type, Ivysaur. When the person who’s running the demo has trouble catching the little critter with a normal Poké Ball, they go into their inventory and switch to a Master Ball (why?!) instead. As you can imagine, it works like a charm.

Based on the footage shown, it looks like switching the ball type will be an important aspect of the title’s gameplay. It will be interesting to see whether this will play out as a micro-transaction within the game. I also wonder whether the monsters will be able to run away like they do in the RPGs. So many questions!

All-in-all, this project looks promising. What do you think of the footage? Is there anything in particular that caught your eye? Will you be playing this once it releases later this year? Let us know in the comments below.

Pokémon Sun and Moon: What we know so far

First appearing on Game Boy in 1996, Pokémon has been a cultural phenomenon for two decades. You play as a ‘trainer’, travelling the land and capturing wild Pokémon (Pocket Monsters) before sending them into battle. It has spawned TV shows and movies, and remains one of gaming’s most treasured series. Now Nintendo has announced Sun and Moon, the latest entrants into its famous Pokémon series. Here is what we know so far…

Pokémon Sun and Moon will release ‘Late 2016’ for Nintendo 3DS

While there was no definite release date, Nintendo confirmed in a short celebratory Pokémon video that Sun and Moon will be coming for Christmas this year. It will release on the handheld 3DS, meaning it is the second fully-fledged Pokémon the console has seen following Pokémon X&Y (in addition to the Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire remakes).

Pokémon Sun and Moon officially revealed, release later this year

Nintendo announced this morning that Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon are the next new games in the franchise. The games will launch worldwide on Nintendo 3DS this holiday season. You can watch the quick reveal at the tail end of the series-spanning anniversary video above.

The games will come with nine language options, according to the announcement, including Chinese for the first time.

The news came from the company's special Pokémon-centric Nintendo Direct, held today in advance of the series' 20th anniversary tomorrow, Feb. 27. Fans discovered Pokémon Sun and Moon ahead of the official reveal, however, when the logos and trademark applications turned up last week in a European trademark database.

Pokémon Sun and Moon are the first mainline Pokémon games since Pokémon X and Y, which launched on Nintendo 3DS in 2013. These were followed by Pokémon Omega Ruby and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire, which were 3DS remakes of 2003's Pokémon Ruby and Pokémon Sapphire on Game Boy Advance.

Although little else is known yet about the two games comprising Pokémon's next generation of role-playing games, a new legendary Pokémon was recently unveiled. It's expected that Magearna, who will premiere in this summer's newest Pokémon movie, is the first of generation seven's new collectible monsters.

Information about the posibilities of a working rom for these games will be released later.
